Adobe Updater Crashes on Mac OS X

I have been trying to fix a problem with Adobe Updater after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac on my new MacBook Pro.  Every time I opened Elements (same thing happened when I used evaluation version of Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom) or invoked Adobe Updater from inside the application, I would get the error message "Application Adobe Updater quit unexpectedly."

Today I finally came across the fix on a Aric's Tech Blog.  Turns out, this is a permission issue with Adobe Updater not able to modify files it does not have enough access too.

To resolve, open Terminal application (under Applications>Utilities>Terminal) and issue the following command:

sudo /Applications/Utilities/Adobe\ Utilities.localized/Adobe\ Updater5/Adobe\ Updater.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe \Updater

After issuing the command aboce, I was asked for admin password before the command could execute.

Adobe Updater works like a charm now.
